Project SEPIA (Social Engagement Plan In Action) is the first step towards a life-long passion project that our team is initiating to encourage and provide opportunities for social dialogue and development amongst low-income female workers, particularly domestic workers, in India. These dialogues will take place in multiple local low-income communities. We’re focusing the dialogues to be a constructive and participatory discussion on community and social issues, where we’ll provide methods and tools towards self-development and empowerment. Our goal is for the dialogues to have a transformative effect on their lives so that they will be able to institute the changes that are important to them within their community.

Additionally, we will have an on-going Leadership Dialogue Project on issues that aid them in improving their personal, social and work conditions. These women may know that they deserve better, but often do not have the tools and resources to know how to do that. The overall objectives of the Leadership Dialogue Project is to instill confidence in these women  and to create the opportunities for them to collaborate in ways that enhance their lives.

The concept for this project was derived from the experiences that Jen had in India during an academic research internship in 2010.
